The following is an excerpt from "Seek and you shall find 'moderately' priced houses" featured in the Sunday April 16, 2000 edition of The Journal News, New York by Noreen Seebacher . "William Balter and Robert Wilder Jr., principals of Wilder Balter Partners, a Westchester based residential development firm, suggest that builders have a part in maintaining a supply of moderately priced housing. Headquartered in Elmsford, the firm offers a wide range of new residential developments from affordable housing communities to luxury single-family homes in excess of $1 million. "We believe its this diversity in new construction developments thats added to our success," Wilder said. One of the companys current projects is a subdivision of 13 single-family homes in Yorktown called Westwind at Stoney Street. The homes, center-hall Colonials averaging 2,700 square feet, start at $450,000. They feature four bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, two-car garages and walk-out basements. Balter said he and his partner would like to offer new construction in the $300,000 to $400,000 range a market segment he defined as very strong. But the escalation of land prices in Westchester makes that virtually impossible. "Were starting to look at development in Putnam as an alternative, he said. The company hopes to have at least one project off the ground there later this year. Wilder Balter Partners Inc. 570 Taxter Road, Elmsford, New York 10523 Home | About Us | Communities | Contact Us |
